SYSTEM SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

C.   SPEED RESTRICTIONS—CARS

Restrictions must be respected when operating on any foreign railroad except when their requirements are more restrictive. Restrictions do not apply to foreign railroads operating on John Galt Line trackage.


1.

Bulkhead Flat Cars (AAR type FB):
 
  Weighing less than 50 tons 45 MPH
  Weighing between 50 and 63 tons 55 MPH

2.

Empty Cars:
  Anode flat car (AAR type FBS) 45 MPH
  Centerbeam flat car (AAR type FBC) 45 MPH
  Gondola (AAR type G) 45 MPH
  Empty except for caboose, double stack container car (AAR type FC or FCA), or business car 60 MPH

3.

Loaded Cars:
 
  Pipe on flat car (AAR type FB) 55 MPH
  Loaded car having idler(s) 60 MPH

4.

Miscellaneous Cars (Loaded or Empty):
 
  Outfit cars, occupied 25 MPH
  Outfit cars, unoccupied 35 MPH
  Airdump 35 MPH
  Ribbon rail car (welded rail) 40 MPH
  Scale test cars 25 MPH
  Jordan Spreader—Moving forward 35 MPH
  Jordan Spreader—Moving backward 25 MPH
